The IWC condemns the Israeli military attack on Flotilla
The International Women’s commission (IWC) for a just and sustainable Palestinian-Israeli Peace, is deeply shocked and dismayed by the killings and wounding of civilians on a political and humanitarian mission to break the siege on Gaza and strongly condemns the military attack by the Israeli Army.
This attack comes while the IWC – bringing together Palestinian, Israeli and international women leaders to speak in one voice- is on a mission in Spain promoting the urgent need for a solution of the conflict based on international law and the principles of UNSCR 1325 on women peace and security.
Once again Israel is resorting to military means to deal with a conflict that has only a political solution: end Israeli occupation in all its forms and create an independent and sovereign Palestinians state on 4th June 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as a capital alongside the state of Israel
Israel can no longer be allowed to behave with total disregard of international legality. We call upon the International community to act to hold Israel accountable for their actions. No state including Israel should be permitted to flaunt disrespect for international and humanitarian law. The violations of human rights and humanitarian laws and of all relevant UN resolutions should be stopped.
The women and men- many from Palestinian, Israeli and international civil society organizations that refuse to be repressed- who joined “flotilla freedom” to break the siege are doing what the international community should have done: End the Siege on Gaza.
